Tiger Cub Pumpkin Patch Day

Halloween is fast approaching, so it's about time you get your pumpkins ready for a good carving!

Instead of buying your pumpkin at huge retailer, support to your local pumpkin patch and enjoy unique and fun activities they have to offer. There are hundreds of pumpkins spread across fields, and it is your job to find the perfect one to meet your pumpkin carving or decorating needs! Part of the fun is searching through tons of pumpkins to find one you loveā€”it's like a treasure hunt.

Joan's Farm in Livermore has been the generous host of our Tiger Cub Pumpkin Patch Day for over 20 years. In addition to picking out the perfect pumpkin, you can enjoy a hayride, feeding and petting farm animals, indulge in some tasty treats, and take great family photos on the farm.

Pumpkin patches are fun for the whole family, and a great time for you and the kids to bond.

Make this an annual tradition! A family trip to the pumpkin patch every year is a little treat that your kids can look forward to and count on!

Tiger Cub Kite Day

"Let's Go Fly a Kite" is a song from the 1964 film Mary Poppins. This song is performed at the end of the film when George Banks realizes that his family is much more important than his job. From toddlers to grandparents, anyone can fly a kite!

These days everyone is so busy all the time. It's good to slow down once and a while. Flying a kite produces a very calming peaceful feeling, which is proven to reduce stress and promote mindfulness. Get on your feet and let's go fly a kite with 50-60 Tigers and other scouts.

Tiger Cub Kite Day has been a Twin Valley District tradition for 20+ years.

The Tiger Year Patch

Patches, Patches, and more Patches - are a fun and colorful way to display all of the memorable activities and achievements you can do in Scouting.

Both scouts and adults can earn patches for activities, rank advancements, leadership, training, merit badges, and so much more. Some of these patches can be worn on your uniform and some of these patches can be proudly displayed on a Scout patch vest, Scout jacket, or Scout blanket.

In fact, the tradition of scouting patches goes all the way to Day 1, and Scouting's Founder Robert Baden Powell in 1907. BP (as he was called) believed that his scouts and leaders should earn and be recognized for their achievements in a way similar to his bravest Army soldiers.

But patch collecting doesn't stop there. Have you ever noticed the patches on a Policeman's uniform? Have you ever noticed the extra decals on the helmets your favorite college football team? Have you ever noticed the National Park stickers on the back of an RV? Did you know that there are "passports" to collect stamps from all State Capitols and National Parks?" These are all "badges" of honor for your accomplishments and achievements.

For Tiger Cub Scouts, the "Perfect" Tiger Year includes earning and collecting all three of these Tiger-ific patches. Collect all three for the perfect Tiger Year momento.
